Aquarium salt is a must-have in a goldfish medicine cabinet. Aquarium salt can help with external bacterial, fungal, protozoan, and parasitic infections. It's a great additive to use in the first month or two when buying a new fish to decrease their stress levels and help them adjust to their new living situation. It can help improve gill function and is great for fish that have experienced ammonia burns or nitrite poisoning.
